On October 6th at 3:00 p.m. in the JB Chamber Performing Arts Center, the freshmen in the Introduction to Speech and Theater class will be performing a thrilling creature double-feature directed by Mrs. Redd.
Now, you may be wondering how you can get tickets for this scarily good production. Tickets will be sold both at the door and online at GoFan.Co by searching “Wheeling Park”.
“At the moment I can assure you that you can buy tickets at the door, we will be taking cash and credit cards– it’ll be $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students. Ohio County students, as always, are complimentary”, Mrs. Redd said.
Before you purchase tickets, though, you may be curious as to what the shows are even about.
“So we are doing a creature double-feature with Aliens v.s. Cheerleaders and 10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse. The first one is aliens invade the Earth and they meet a band of alien-fighting cheerleaders, and the second one there is a zombie apocalypse and we have several different groups of survivors who teach us how to survive”, said the director Mrs. Redd.
Mrs. Redd also said, “I think it is rated 9+. It’s really fun and we’ve got everything you could want– we’ve got cheerleaders, zombies, aliens, fun lights and sound, cool costumes, tons of people screaming, kung-fu– it’s excellent”.
Romeo Blake-Livingston said, “I really enjoy the plays selected; it’s a nice Halloween theme”.
“The plays are actually really fun this year, everyone has a part and nobody is left out. I got a big part this year so I’m really excited”, said Carter Kidd.
Hailey Hess said, “It’s really fun and super cute, and it’s really funny too”.
The director of the two plays is Mrs. Redd, who is involved with the Park Players theater group at Wheeling Park High School and one of the teachers for the Introduction to Speech and Theater course available for freshmen only. The students believe that Mrs. Redd has helped them tremendously in preparing for this production.
“She’s an extremely helpful director”, said Finn Gilbert.
Blair Anderson said, “She’s always helping us figure out how to say certain lines and act in certain scenes”.
In turn, Mrs. Redd believes that the freshmen are just as hard-working and deserve their own ‘out-of-this-world’ applause for all of their effort into making these plays a terrifying success.
“This is a really hard-working group of freshmen. They’re super enthusiastic and learning their lines, they’ve also been super interested in learning their stage combat and I’ve had students step up to direct some scenes for me while I work on some of the other action going on since we have two plays”, said Mrs. Redd.
Despite your week already being filled with Homecoming festivities, this thrilling play will kick off your spooky season in all the best ways.
“I just really think this will be an out-of-this-world experience. You should come learn some tips and tricks for survival in case you find yourself in some tricky situations. It’s gonna gear you up for this Halloween season. You can be prepared to end your Homecoming week with a great time with your family and any youngins that you have that are 9+, and I think it’ll be a great time”, said Mrs. Redd.
Make sure to mark your calendars and close out your Homecoming week in a thrilling fashion as members of the Class of 2028 take center stage in this creature double-feature.
