Homecoming King Ike Aderholt with fellow nominee Anna Contraguerro.
On October 9th, Wheeling Park High Schools’ annual Homecoming Parade returned to the downtown streets to celebrate everything we offer at The Palace on the Hill. Wheeling Park crowned their 2025 Homecoming King, Issac “Ike” Aderholt, and introduced their fall sports teams.
“It’s a good feeling. This parade has been a lot of fun!” said Ike Aderholt moments after his crowning.
The nominees for king also included Cooper Abraham, Tre Frye, Jed Hunley, Jerome Maynard Jr., Samuel Rockey, Reuben Rouse, Brennan Wack, Kolten Whitmire, and JD Williams.
The queen will be crowned tonight at the Homecoming Football game during halftime. The nominees for queen are Caitlyn Anderson, Samantha Ashmore, Ra’Myah Askerneese, Madeline Bradshaw, Molly Brinker, Victoria Canestraro, Kaelin Castello, Anna Contragueroo, Olivia Ellis, and Taylin Holt.
“My favorite part about the parade is watching the whole event take place,” said student life coordinator and social studies teacher Ms. Dobrynski. “It’s a lot of preparation. A lot of moving parts, different clubs, teams, the band, chaperones, sound professionals, just to name a few. When the parade is finally getting started it all flows together so perfectly. It contains the marching band, the homecoming court in convertibles, and different floats that kids helped decorate with their teams and clubs. It’s really a great experience to watch unfold and to help pull off.”
Last year, the homecoming parade was on the hill at Wheeling Park High School due to the construction throughout downtown Wheeling. However, the parade has historically marched through downtown Wheeling to celebrate not only our school but our city. This event is one of many homecoming celebrations students are excited to attend besides the dance.
“I like to watch the community be out and about and all the clubs going through and seeing all the families sitting together,” Mr. Nardone, student life coordinator and teacher at Wheeling Park.
