This year's fall play poster was designed by Studio 235.
This year, the Wheeling Park Theater Department is performing the play Almost, Maine on November 7th, 8th, and 9th at the JB Chambers Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at Go Fan.
Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani, is nine short plays in one show all about love, relationships, and connection. Every scene has about two-three actors on stage at one time. Considerable effort goes into producing the fall play. Dr. Romick, a CP English teacher at Wheeling Park and the director, gives insight into what all goes into getting the fall play on stage.
“We started over the summertime, and I read several different scripts to choose which one I wanted to do. Then, I ordered scripts and read them, so I picked this one,” said Romick. “There were tons of options for the fall play, because there are literally thousands of plays out there. I do a little bit of research, and I see what other high schools and colleges have presented.”
Dr. Romick sees the potential in students who are interested in the fall play and tries to find plays that suit them.
“We look at people that we have because we have to know that we have the people to fill all the roles from that certain play,” said Romick.
Grace Mull, an actress in Almost, Maine, shares how she has grown in the theater department.
“I auditioned my sophomore year, and I did not get it, but I did tech. Then, I was in the fall play last year, and I’m in it this year,” said Mull, senior.
Many actors in this show have many extracurricular activities, and Dr. Romick always makes sure to adapt to their schedules.
“It’s been incredibly amazing, because Dr. Romick is very much aware that we are all busy, and so he does his best to fit the schedule to all of our needs,” said Mull.
